What is the best drinking water?

Because of water's different sources and the different ways in which water is treated, the taste and quality of drinking water varies. Let us take you through the options one step at a time and you can then decide for yourself what type of water you feel is the best for you.

Spring and Mineral Water:

The promoters of spring waters say that minerals are good for your body. However, one needs to be a bit specific because only organic minerals are the ones that our body can use. One would normally find that more that 95% of the minerals in bottled spring water are inorganic minerals so our body cannot utilize them. If they accumulate in our kidney, they will form kidney stones and if they accumulate in the gall bladder they form gallstones, and if accumulated in our joints they can be the main culprits of arthritis.

Filtered Water:

Promoters of water filters usually tell us that all the chemicals in the tap water are bad for us and that most water filters will take away the chemicals, leaving the water clean and pure to drink. Filtered water has a place for those who just want to remove unpleasant taste and the chlorine added at the treatment plant. In most cases, however, it leaves most of the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) still in the water.

Distilled and Osmotic Water:

This type of water has been purified to the point that they are lifeless. A water lacking in minerals, electrons and oxygen, this equals to dead water. Freshly distilled water rapidly absorbs carbon dioxide from the air and reaches an acidic pH of 5.5 in a very short time. Acidic water is not a healthy choice for drinking water.

Bottled Water:

Bottled water has been sitting on a store shelf, has even less vitality and often lacks the rich mineral content present in tap water. Also if bottled water sits at room temperature for more than 8 hours, it can be carcinogenic due to the leaching of the plastic.

Alkaline Water:

Alkaline water is not a magic water or a medication. It simply acts as a buffer to the acidic conditions of the body. It releases ions whenever their concentration begins to fall. Thus, alkaline water helps to minimize the fluctuations in pH in your body preventing acidosis which is the flatform for degenerative diseases.

Therefore, it makes sense to drink alkaline water on a daily basis. After all, it does not cost more than your normal bottled water and, according to experts we are supposed to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water to assist our body in maintaining good health. Your health is your responsibility and the water you choose to drink is your choice.
